“Strikingly Bold” - The Scotsman (for previous production Puffin)

In 1977, a team of scientists, artists and engineers tried to answer an impossible question: how would you explain life on earth? 

The result was the Golden Record: whale song, human greetings in 55 languages, the sound of a heartbeat and other soundbites of existence, captured on a disc and catapulted into the stars aboard the Voyager 1. For decades, it has captured imaginations as humanity’s strange and loving self-portrait, delivered as a mixtape for the universe.

Today, crash/catapult/float tackles that same question, but asks an additional one: what would the planet have said, if it could have spoken for itself? 

Built from live performance, video design, object theatre and micro-cinema, crash/catapult/float is a sci-fi installation and performance piece that conjures the wonder and scale of earth’s history, present and future. It is a living time-capsule for the here and now; a space to celebrate the beauty and complexity of life, and to ask what we leave behind when we’re gone.

Suitable for ages 10+, under 18s should be accompanied by an adult
